Brightening Up Forest Academy: A Unique Graffiti Mural School Workshop

At Street Style Surgery, we love bringing creativity, collaboration, and colour into schools through our hands-on school workshops. We had the pleasure of working with Forest Academy in Ilford, Essex, on a very special projec,a graffiti mural workshop with a unique twist.

Unlike our usual spray-paint murals, this time the pupils worked with inside paint, creating a vibrant artwork directly on the walls of their 6th form common room. The result? A bright, lively space that reflects the energy and creativity of the students.

A Collaborative School Workshop Experience

This graffiti mural school workshop was designed to encourage students to express themselves, collaborate with peers, and develop practical artistic skills. Working together, the 6th form pupils:

• Planned the mural design as a team

• Learned graffiti-inspired techniques using inside paint

• Brought their ideas to life on a large-scale wall

• Transformed the common room into a welcoming, inspiring space

The project not only improved the aesthetics of the space but also gave the students a sense of ownership and pride in their school environment.

Why Inside Paint?

For this workshop, we chose inside paint instead of spray paint due to health and safety considerations. Aerosols are not suitable for indoor use, especially in enclosed spaces like the 6th form common room. Using inside paint allowed students to work safely while still achieving vibrant colours, precise detail, and a professional-looking graffiti mural.

This approach ensures that creativity and safety go hand in hand, giving pupils the freedom to explore graffiti techniques without any health risks.
