What Happens in this Sound Experience Composing and Creating Workshop?
A creative workshop helping young people to compose music around a theme at their level. Involving tuned and un-tuned accessible, age appropriate percussion instruments, body percussion and voices, there will be the opportunity for listening, playing, sharing and creating.
Different soundscapes, rhythms and vocal lines will be explored and put together to form a musical composition that will be performed by the participants during the workshop.
Warm-ups and opening activities will be used to ease everybody in gently and encourage them to think creatively. The workshop can be pitched to suit mixed ability groups of children.

Can be run as an after school workshop over 3-5 days, 1 hour per session
Single workshop: 1-2 hrs depending on setting, sessions can be repeated with different groups.
How many young people can this Sound Experience Composing and Creating Workshop accommodate?
Per session: SEN settings – up to 8 students with support staff; mainstream settings: up to 20 students
Can be broken up e.g. several classes could take part in workshops during a day and then the classes could perform their compositions to each other at the end of the day.
