Bringing Stories to Life
What happens in this Bringing Stories to Life Workshop for schools and young people?
In this session, young people will be taken on an adventure, using a famous book or story as inspiration. Through storytelling, drama, movement and song (where appropriate) the children will be immersed in the story itself.
They will act out specific elements of the plot and they will engage in story-focused play with their peers. Everyone can become a great storyteller with a bit of practice! Through practical engagement with the text, the story will become more memorable and the young people will have a reason to listen to and respond to the text.
These sessions will reinforce the fun and engagement that can come from really understanding a book and its characters. It aims to break down perceived barriers to literacy and also to help all participants to feel more confident when reading new material.
