Art Workshop - Graffiti Drawing & Record Spray Painting

This new art workshop encourages young people to get creative with typography and make their very own ‘Street-Style' design pieces

The leader of our exciting new graffiti art workshops cut his teeth in the influential New York hip hop scene of the early 80s.

And he can teach your young people all the old-skool graff tricks and techniques – from creating striking type effects to transforming ‘junk' into one-of-a-kind ‘Street-Style' design pieces.

What happens on this art workshop?

The art workshop is split into two parts:

(i)                 Graffiti-style letter drawing

(ii)               Graffiti record spray painting

(i) Our graffiti artist shows the young people how to write their name ‘graffiti-style'.  They'll learn techniques for creating everything from classic bubble type right through to abstract type. Plus, they'll bend and mould type, and add decorative and 3D effects to their designs.

(ii) Our graffiti artist demonstrates how old vinyl records can be transformed into an instant piece of art with the help of spray paints and stencils. Your young people will be encouraged to get super-creative. And what they make, they keep!

What sizes does this art workshop come in?

  • 90-minute - ‘fast-graffiti-fix' art workshops or 2 hours for a more chilled and relaxed session
  • Full-day art workshops made up of two 2.5 hour sessions

This art workshop can also be combined with our Large Mural Spraying Art Workshop {link to other graffiti page} for a comprehensive introduction to graffiti techniques.

How many young people can the art workshop accommodate?

This art workshop is suitable for groups of up to 15 young people, but more than one session can be run.

What will young people get out of these art workshops?

  • The opportunity to get creative and express themselves in a fun and easy-going workshop environment where all opinions are encouraged
  • An engaging, practical introduction to graff-art techniques such as sketching, spray-painting, stencilling and recycling
  • A chance to share their ideas, collaborate and engage in peer-to-peer praise, rather than peer pressure
  • The boost to their self-confidence that comes with having an idea and then seeing it brought to life
  • A whole lot of fun!!

  • “It was wicked learning to spray paint, I want to do more” – James Holt  14
  • “My granddad has these but my mine is well cooler” – Nate Berry 13
