Business & Enterprise workshops - for the design of apps
This hands-on, creative business and enterprise workshop involves both discussion and presentation in order to give overview of the apps design industry, what are apps for? Why are they popular? Who produces apps? How are they sold to the public?
They will discover what there is to know about the design process of apps, whether designed for mobile phones or iPads, and whether designed for the purpose of being useful or entertaining.
Informally coming up with many different types of apps, from the useful and the creative, to the addictive and downright silly, this business and enterprise workshop is the perfect chance for the young people of today to put on their thinking caps and work in teams, in order to creatively design their very own apps.
What happens on this app workshop?
- Working on short activities in teams of four- The YP will cover project management, design, logic and business.
- Think of a name for the app- thinking of a relevant name for the app and different design ideas.
- Decide on a final design- start the design process, exploring each stage.
- Share ideas and designs- challenge each other on the designs and then refine the apps accordingly.
- Create a final design- Write a description of what the app does and why it's so good.
- Facilitators choose a winner- Winner app design is announced

How many people can attend, and when?
- Maximum of 30 people
- Half day basic version – this can be run twice in one day with two different groups
- Full day (this will allow for a period of research to be carried out in an ITC suite)
- After school – 2 or 3 sessions
