Street Style Surgery Enterprise and optional Recycling Fashion Workshop - Full day

This is a condensed version of my fashion design enterprise workshop programme. 

It is a mini fast-tracked introduction to creative fashion design with a small module of enterprise to show how they can be entrepreneurial through their own artistic skills and methods.  It consists of the young person bringing in an item of clothing to customise and embellish (recycle element) or for the education establishment to purchase the t-shirts from a chosen source.  The young people then use various design techniques and art equipment, such as fabric spray paints and stencils, fabric pens and crayons, as well as an extensive supply of embellishment materials. 

Throughout the workshop they will be led through the “Design and Make” process of a real fashion designer.  This will start by me giving them an introduction and mentor talk about the path I have taken and my past fashion business and to the street style surgery,

This will then progress in to the initial design of their own item of clothing. They will use the materials I have to inspire their creative minds and sketch their ideas down.  They will then work closely to their design ideas to produce a unique and personal item of clothing to be proud of.

At the end of the session a garment costing will be produced in order for the young person to see how much the item was made for and then could be sold for.

If time is available a mini photo shoot or fashion walk can take place in order to celebrate the young persons achievement.

Street Style Surgery Fashion Workshop – One hour – design fix

This will consist of an hour’s worth of fast fix creative design.  The young people will be given an introduction to me and my fashion history and to the aims of the Street Style Surgery.  They will then be shown examples of items of clothing that have been designed and customised within my workshops, in order to inspire them.  I will then introduce them to the vast array of materials and equipment used to customise clothing in a street style.  They will then spend the rest of the lesson customising a blank square of fabric to give them an insight in to what they could creatively achieve if they where to customise an item of clothing.

Street Style Surgery Fashion Portfolio and Fashion Sketch Workshop

This is a short introduction in to portfolio and presentation skills.  It will start off with me explaining my own portfolio and different methods and ways of presenting artistic material to a high level.  It will also give the pupils a hands-on insight in to fashion sketching, shading and illustration.  By the end of the lesson the pupils will all have produced a stylish fashion sketch, shaded with their chosen medium, ready for presentation.

Street Style Surgery inspiration and mentor talk

This lesson consists of a power-point presentation about the path I have taken and the hardships I have overcome to arrive at this point.  It is highly inspiring and motivating and instils the ethos of never giving up and to always follow your dreams.
